FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sacramento, CA – May 3, 2014 – Medasend Biomedical, Inc., a leading medical waste disposal company established in 1999, has announced that it will service the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). Medasend will be responsible for the collection, removal, and disposal of pharmaceutical waste located at the Central Fill Pharmacy in Sacramento, CA.
All of the waste collected will be treated using an energy-from-waste process, enabling the recovery of renewable energy in the form of electricity and heat from the incineration of waste.
“Being able to work with an integral state agency like the CDCR is an important step in our company’s growth,” said Stephanie Harrison, Medasend’s VP of Healthcare Compliance. She continued, “We’re eager to deliver our world-class pharmaceutical waste disposal and treatment services, while maintaining an environmentally-friendly treatment process. It’s been a true pleasure working with the California Correctional Health Care Services department in making this cooperation happen.”
In conjunction with its cooperation with Medasend for Rx waste disposal services, the CDCR will also be utilizing Medasend’s Complete Compliance web-based portal system, allowing staff to easily keep track of service history, waste manifests and other documentation, while having access to online compliance training.
